Fosters Extra Cool

Great pictures of Foster + Partners designed winery in Gumiel de Izán, Spain. An amazing building that uses light, shade and gravity to great effect:

A road rises to the roof of the building, where the harvested grapes are delivered straight into the hopper: the winery is designed to take advantage of the sloping terrain, using gravity to aid movement of the grapes within the building, maximising efficiency and minimising damage to the grapes.

The combination of the need for a big warehouse, state-of-the-art factory and fancy cellar-door bar must make designing a winery an unusual but expansive and rewarding brief. As well as looking like your classic 60s Thunderbird/Bond baddie-lair, can anyone else see a Imperial Shuttle
